Visit Parshall

Whether you’re here for world-class walleye fishing on Lake Sakakawea, exploring the one-of-a-kind Paul Broste Rock Museum, or simply passing through the beautiful North Dakota landscape, Parshall welcomes you. Here’s everything you need to plan your visit.

Paul Broste Rock Museum

The most significant rock and mineral collection in North Dakota — some specimens rival those of the Smithsonian. Built from locally quarried granite with walls five feet thick, the museum was founded by Paul Broste, a local farmer and collector who began gathering rocks in the 1920s. He called it “the Parshall Acropolis.”

Lake Sakakawea & Parshall Bay

Just 10 minutes from town, Lake Sakakawea is the second largest man-made lake in the United States. Created by the Garrison Dam on the Missouri River, the lake is a premier destination for fishing, boating, swimming, and camping.

Parshall Bay Recreation Area sits on the northeast corner of the Van Hook Arm and offers over 100 campsites, three boat launches with courtesy docks, fish cleaning stations, playgrounds, a basketball court, showerhouse, and a pavilion for large gatherings.
